Nice column. One of my favorite NOVA programs is this one from a few years ago was this one. It's been a while since I've watched, and they probably had to throw in the obligatory AGW scare, but I don't see how anyone with some reasonable command of logic can not watch this and see that there is no way the modelers could account for all the factors like dust in the atmosphere, the ocean currents affecting air temperature, and the atmospheric motion itself and so forth. One of my favorite programs to make the point to the AGW warmunist crowd.
One environmental issue I'm concerned about in the big picture is the disposal of plastics; this stuff does not belong in the food chain. I do not profess to have any solutions other than don't throw it in the ditch or storm drain for now.
I'm not real enthused about solar panels since this will become a toxic waste disposal problem and not really that green either. That's another issue the warmunist won't acknowledge.

You have written a very comprehensive article on what started as Global Warming but then changed to be called Climate Change to cover their asses. One can dodge anything with "Change"
A credible article appeared, It may have been a YouTube interview. It was Al Gore's College Professor saying that way back in the beginning he had presented "an Hypothesis" to Al about the CO2 thing.
Al knew a political cause when he saw it. Anyhow the Prof said that years later he realized that his hypothesis had no merit. (I am old - I can't remember) but I think he said he mentioned it to Al, -- of course with no effect.
I have watched various highly respected Intellectuals explain why everybody includes in their Speeches, Papers, Meetings, Rallies, and anything Political, the words "Climate Change". -- Even publicly discussing how to make custard has to have a mention of its effect on Climate Change.
Under the present US Political Correctness psychosis, (which controls opinions in much of the world), any funding for anything (even custard making) has to have done a full Climate Change assessment. Not to do so means no funding.
I have agonized for hours on how supposedly well educated and Intelligent people even in high positions can all parrot the same script. I drink coffee every day with two retired psychiatrists. We try to work out why this is so, and why so many actually "believe" things.
Our quintessential examples (and sadly I drink coffee with them too) are the Conspiracy Clique. No matter how much evidence from very credible sources is presented, They know it is all a government conspiracy, or a false flag, or a political subterfuge to achieve some hidden objective, or the Global Cabal maneuvering the people with lies and manipulation.-- you know the story.-- I actually sometimes have coffee with a Flat Earther.
There is something in the way the human brain accepts belief. It has to be inviolable. A species imperative. Nothing moves it short of physical or emotional trauma. Maybe a primordial locking in of migration routes, or poisonous plants, or crop cycles, and etc. (I have no idea)
Our quintessential example is the 3000 registered religions. Can they all be wrong. -- Hell yes. But once one takes on a belief it is locked in.

The present Climate Change Scam has become totally based upon economic advantage. If you are old you may have watched how the myth slowly started infiltrating everything and where there was money to be made by either embracing it or in the reverse by others embracing it.
There was a secondary major spin-off -- Government regulating everything. Licencing, Regulation and the directing of many activities. Nothing was possible unless government regulation was complied with. Making Winners and Losers.
IF CO2 was the problem, how could any body think more regulations while burning more and more oil could change anything. These fools rule us.
Now comes some reality. Just maybe God was a smart guy. He decided plants should eat CO2. He realized plants grow down on the ground, so he very astutely made CO2 heavier than air so that it would sink down to feed the plants. Then he realized that humans used lots of O2. He adjusted the plants so that in every 24 hour period plants always gave a little extra O2 for the humans. There were lots of plants so it worked just fine.
I wrote some books on high tech agriculture. -- Plants do best at about 1000 ppm of CO2, they grow fat. Our present 400 ppm is not making the plants happy.
There are three grades of psychological definition for stupid:- Moron, Idiot, Imbecile. The Imbeciles who rule us are incapable of coherent thought. The Amazon as we speak (one of the biggest lungs of the earth) is burning billions of trees to plant soy. Each tree stores about 10 tons of CO2. Indonesia every year burns another of the big lungs of the world . Every city, and road destroys trillions of square meters of CO2 eaters and oxygen givers. All those trillions of tons of cattle and hog feed were once plants which were eating CO2. Now they are Methane.
If anybody for the briefest of moments had the thought that too much CO2 was a problem, one would think that they would immediately start the obvious remedy.
The lesser knowledgeable like to confuse Weather with Climate. The temperature anywhere is irrelevant to climate.
Aside:-- I drink coffee with a retired 4 bar Navy Captain. a While back he was involved with measuring the (Oh My God) rising seal level. Their area was South Africa. He emailed me that the sea-level had not even risen 1mm over the last 10 years.
About 5 years a go a French Team did a documentary, (I think it was the Maldives) They found that the Sea- level had actually gone down there.
The US and by extension, much of the world, to remain in the game, have developed the "Predictive" culture you talk about. Except for the standard Nostradamus types, I think it is Capitalism and the Stock Market which has created phobia of predicting Everything. If one has a vested interest in anything and can anticipate or better yet to buy opposite to the meme one is spreading it can pay off. Predicting, droughts, floods, and getting a following can be very lucrative.
The ones I like are the Financial Funds and advisers who use incredibly complex graphs to predict the future. They always have a magnificent excuse when the graph goes the wrong way. The graph always works until it doesn't, and it is always "your" money which they lose.
The one credible discussion I liked was (the Norwegian? team) who from ice cores and (I forgot what else) postulated that there is a galactic arm component as the whole system moves around. They say we are headed to an ice age.
It won't be my problem so I don't give a damn.
